Con: In every aspect, the G25’s look smaller than the G20, especially when it comes to the short irons. However, Ping was able to make these irons more flexible and longer. The long irons also fly higher than previous models, and do so without adding too much spin.

Cons: The G25’s soles are narrower than the G20’s, but they’re still oversized. The G25’s soles will be more prone to getting caught in the rough. They may have an improved feel than the G25, but they are still cast irons from Ping and not buttery forgings.

The bottom line is that the G25 golf irons have a better look, feel, and performance than the G20. This was no small feat given how many G20-loving golfers adore their G20 irons. For better players, these are well worth upgrading to. These players will benefit from narrower soles as well as higher-launching, long irons.

Ping G25 Iron Review

Overview

Ping G Series irons have been used for game improvement. They are designed to make average people hit more straight shots, further and faster.

Ping’s G15 and G20 irons were the last to be released. They trended towards the “super-game-improvement” category. Many golfers found their extremely large soles and excessive offset too difficult, especially those who liked the smaller Ping irons but couldn’t afford them.

G25 irons in this year’s G25 are significantly more compact than G20 irons. The thing is, as irons shrink in size they become less forgiving. But the G25’s actually perform better than the larger G20’s. In the words of our reviewer, they’re “rainmakers” that are “sinfully forgiving.” Click here to read his full review in the forums.

The G25’s sell for around $700 for a set of a set of eight irons, and are available with Ping’s CFS shafts in Soft R, Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff flexes or Ping’s lighter, higher-launching TFC 189 shafts in Soft R, Regular and Stiff flexes. You can find more details in the following spec sheets.

Performance

Rarely can we say that an old iron gives off more forgiveness than its predecessors, but the G25 irons are capable of doing just that. Ping’s biggest alteration to the irons was to position the CTP (or custom tuning port) lower in the head. Ping had the task of making it smaller as it was now in direct contact with the sole.

The change in the alignment of the center gravity with the force at impact resulted in an efficient transfer of energy, or more ball speed on center strikes. But because Ping is Ping, and its engineers strive to make each iron as forgiving as the size of the head will allow, the G25’s also have more perimeter weighting.

How did you gain that weight? Ping made G25-irons’ faces thinner. Although the face was not made any more springy, it freed up some weight that Ping could sprinkle around the cavity. This makes off-center strikes easier and allows for shots to fly the same distance as those of solid hits.

Our reviewer summed it up nicely when he said:

“These G25s can be forgiven more than your grandmother,” but what is even more important? The G25’s narrower soles. These will allow for more control in the rough, and better interaction on tight pitches.

According to our reviewer, there’s even more good news for better players. The G25 3 iron is so long and high-launching that golfers might be inclined to trade out the troublesome hybrid in their bag.

It’s all about the looks and how you feel

The beauty of placing more mass behind a line of impact at impact is its ability to boost performance. Additionally, it boosts feel. Ping even went one step further. To dial in the feeling of the G25 irons, engineers modified the size, shape and adhesion for the multimaterial cavity badge. This softened the impact, creating a subtle but powerful sound.

Visually, the thinner offsets, lower top lines, wider progressive sole widths and reduced offset look great at address. These look good with the graphite finish, which makes irons appear even more stealthier above the ball.

“The G25’s feel more bladelike than those in the G20 short irons,” our reviewer wrote. Although it’s insane to compare, a lot of what was causing the problem with the G25’s in the short irons has now been removed. You’re unlikely now to see the back of the PW standing over it at address. Because there’s an additional trailing edge relief grind, the soles have been significantly narrowed. It’s clear that the G25 and G20 soles would be more aerodynamic if they were put in wind tunnels.

What’s the Takeaway

Ping G25’s might not look the best, nor are they the most comfortable. But that’s not what Ping was after.

Our reviewer discovered that even though his contact wasn’t at the perfect place, his shots flew the right distance. In a game of misses, that might be the most a golfer can hope for, and that’s why Ping designed them that way.

Ping’s G25’s won’t fly any farther than other irons for game-improvement, although they are plenty long. After hitting some of them on the heels and toes, and watching them fly straight and long, we can see that Ping has squeezed as much forgiveness from these smaller irons. Modern iron design ought to reflect this.

Final Verdict

Ping G25 Iron is a great tool for beginners and intermediate golfers. This is a very important iron for anyone who has a low handicap, in particular for those with lower handicaps.

The features, such as the reduced offset, progressive solewidth, and thinner pole, all work together to enhance its performance. The Ping G25 Irons are now in the “Game Improvement Irons” category. It offers excellent distance gapping and forgiving, something that all players require.

You can find great reviews of the G25 Ping Iron on the Internet. Each iron has a great feel and ball shooting. These irons are perfect for people who miss the shots. Missed shots are easily covered.

It’s not easy to stop the ball in the fairway. However, these irons won’t cause the ball to bounce around and stop it from moving smoothly. The shaft performance is also outstanding and useful as compared to other good irons. It is also possible to order a custom shaft.

Review on Ping G25 Irons

With a brand new finish and some key performance changes PING recently released their upgrade to the G series irons with the G25 irons. They were fun to try out.

Get together with your friends and play golf.

First, I remember the invention of the cast cavity-back Irons by PING. Since that time PING has continued to make irons every type of player – from the average to the touring pro. It is my opinion that PING has one of the most loyal fan bases of any of the club makers, and anytime a new iron set is released there is bound to be excitement. The announcement of G25 irons by PING created a lot of excitement.

PING’s G25 irons, which are the newest offerings from PING. They offer a subtle change to the G Series of irons PING used. The G25s were created after feedback from the golfers. Even with all the cosmetic and performance changes PING wanted to make sure it was a high performing and forgiving iron that would appeal to golfers of all skill levels.

To review the irons I received a set (4-PW) with CFS shafts from PING.

A more efficient design of custom tuning ports (CTP) is the main difference that PING made to the G25s and G20s. PING has integrated CTP structure’s bottom into the sole of its club. In order to reduce the weight of this port, PING engineers were able save fifteen grams. CTP engineers were also able to shift the center gravity lower, thereby increasing MOI. PING had reduced the weight of the sole club in order to improve launch conditions. However, it made the sole too large. G25 PING engineers wanted the sole to be less large but still maintain ideal launch conditions.

The new CTP is now positioned directly in the impact area, this combined with the newest heel and toe support bars and low toe weight now act to stabilize the face, providing improved distance control. Also, the club’s face has been thinned in order to transfer more weight around the club. This allows for improved forgiveness as well as a higher MOI clubhead.
