Performance

Let’s get right to the big question: did PING maintain the adjustability of the G410 Plus while also boosting the forgiveness? Yes. G425 Max fulfills that promise well.

Comparing the G425 Max with my G410 Plus I noticed a clear difference. The G425 Max has more forgiveness. With the G425 Max driver, mishits were always a bit faster and had more reliable launch numbers. That means you can hit your best shots more quickly on the course. Comparing the G425 Max with the rest of market, it’s clear that there isn’t anything quite like the G425 Max in terms of forgiveness. If you want maximum consistency off the tee, I would suggest bagging the G425 Max driver.

Amazingly, the G425 Max manages to achieve increased forgiveness with minimal compromises in adjustability. This driver uses the same adapter as the previous one, so you can use all the same shafts in the same eight positions. Loft can also be adjusted upwards or downwards by up to 1.5 degrees. There are three options for the 26 gram weight at the back: Draw, Neutral and Fade. Each position has a noticeable impact on the ball flight and the position of the sweet spot.

As one of the leaders in custom fitting, PING offers a great array of stock shafts in the G425 Max driver. You can choose from three exclusive models: the ALTA CB55Slate, PING Tour or Alta Distanza. PING offers two hot models for players who want a high-end shaft: the Aldila Rogue White 130 MSI (review HERE) and the Mitsubishi TENSEI Av Orange (55.5 and 65 grams).

Performance

The name-brand PING G425 LST driver is a success. I saw a drop of about 200 RPM between the G425 Max and the G425 LST. Remember that your mileage can vary. Get fit before you purchase.

What has impressed me about PING’s LST drivers is how they remain very forgiving and stable despite being lower spinning. The G425 LST requires a small amount of forgiveness. However, you do not need to have a handicap. Even when I tried to hit the heels, the distance and accuracy were very good. The ball did not fly off the earth. The G425 LST is a great example of forgiveness and looks, just like its predecessor.

G425 LST drivers have the same adjustability and control as G425 Max. The loft can be adjusted as high or low as 1.5 degrees. It’s important to not overlook the “Flat”, as it is a great position for anyone who pulls their tee shots. There is also a weight in the back with three positions – Fade, Neutral, or Draw. While the LST is less than the Max (17 g vs. 26, g), the impact was still quite significant.

PING’s G425 Max also features a wide range of stock shafts. There are 3 models to choose from: Alta Distanza (PING Tour), ALTA CB55 Slate and PING Tour. PING also has Aldila Rogue White 140 MSI and Mitsubishi TENSEI OAV Orange for those players looking to have a hot shaft.

The Test

Ping allowed me to go to October and get fitted for the best shaft length. The G425 was closed to me at that time, but I did test the G410 heads. It was my preference to have the LST 9-degree shaft with the Ping Tour 65 shaft. The LST driver model was what I got when I received my G425 driver. It had the exact shaft so I could evaluate the club.

Comparing the driver to the G410 LST in LSH Auto, Mercedes Benz Stockport and using Trackman 4 with Titleist Pro V1x ball I found that it was a lot more consistent than the G410 LST. Reddish Vale Golf Club invited me to give it a try during several rounds.

Review Ping G425 lst Driver

It looks great and it feels good! If you have ever read one of my driver reviews, you will know that I prefer a traditional matte black head shape and a small, simple design. Ping delivers all this.

The turbulators now feel more natural, with the color changing from a dark silver to a slate/black.

It’s a bit of a throwback to the old Ping Anser Driver days, which was my favourite driver to play back when I was a Ping contracted Tour player.

Never underestimate the feeling of comfort in golf, it’s a place where we all play our best. When I am looking at the Ping clubs, it looks just like a Ping golf club. It gives me comfort.

It’s been with me from the range sessions on a cold January night to the first tee of a US Open when you can’t feel your hands due to nerves, and you are breathing so heavily that you barely hear your name being announced. Ping drivers were always in my hands on every tour drive. I was never disappointed by it – the perfect fairway finder.

Ping claims that the ball hits further on short grass, and they believe that this could help you gain more yardage.

The sound is also reminiscent of a Ping. It’s high-pitched and loud. This makes it a familiar noise to everyone. This doesn’t seem to have changed in the past couple of drivers models. It’s true that no one feels the same as a Mizuno, but I think it’s also true that there is nothing that sounds like an Ping.

Big Change

Still getting used to the new driver. It’s easier to make off-center contact with. My previous driver’s sound was muted, and I don’t get any audible feedback until the point of impact. I like the matt finish. As I start to get comfortable with the club I expect to gain more confidence.

Yes.

This is a product I would recommend.

Delivers As Promised

Here is a detailed review. Ping G400 is my driver. I said I wouldn’t buy another driver unless there were higher m.o.i. Enter Ping Golf 425 Max. Ping is a respected company with a reputation for making equipment that’s easy to use. It was the first time I had used the driver as a driver and played the club course. As promised, the club delivered. They kept me at the fairway for all of my golfing day. My G400 was perfect for hitting strikes which felt inconsistent. These struck found me in the fairway. After going to the range first, I decide to play it in the draw setting even though a draw is my natural swing shape. Although it seemed to prevent a push turning into a slice, it didn’t cook my draws. It just felt like the club was trying to get in the lower slot more quickly and so narrow the dispersion.

Yes.

I would recommend this product.

Ping G425 Driver Review

This Club is a Great One!

The G425 LST was perfect for my D1-level daughter. Although my daughter played great on the TM SIM Max and Venus Velocore shafts, she found it difficult to control her spin so that the ball would spin too fast. This led to her shots leaking to the right. After her fitting with the Ping, her spin came down to about 2500-2600 and gained an average of 4-5 MPH of ball speed. Comparing to the TM’s quaking up of the face, it was so much simpler than that with the TM. The TM definitely opens up at the address. The rear weight port was placed on the heel side and changed from a 17g to a 14g. We then placed the Fuji shaft in the Pinghead and built her a new driver. These were some outstanding results. On well struck shots, easily averaged a gain of about 10-15 more yards compared to the TM. Although her misses are more on the heels, those shots still traveled on the fairway, which is why they were playable. We tried the G425 Max also, but it spun a tad too much. We also tried the Calloway LS Max, but our numbers were better with the Ping. And she liked the feeling of the ball bouncing off her face. The TM felt a lot more livelier than the Ping. Cheers.

Adjustability

Much of the adjustability in these models has been touched on in the above section, but I’d like to mention the hosel adjustability that Ping title “Trajectory Tuning 2.0”.

Like most major brands, you can change the head loft simply by removing your head and placing it on a different hosel setting. With ping, you can move the height of your head up or down by as much as 1.5 degrees.

Of special note though and almost unique to Ping (I’ll discuss “almost” in a moment) is the ability to select a flatter lie angle with either neutral, +1 or -1 loft. This can be beneficial to short golfers such as me. It also helps those wanting to lower their angle of attack in order to optimise spin loft and launch conditions.

Because the Sure. Titleist has a flat, and indeed upright, fit hosel adjustability. But these settings also adjust loft and angle automatically.

The Golf Insider Verdict: Ping G425 driver reviews I could go on about the quality of this new Ping G425 range Drivers. The verdict? It’s actually quite simple. This driver is a great value for money, with excellent performance and fitting options.

The Ping G425 Max offers good distance and exceptional levels of forgiveness. SFT drivers can be very helpful for players who are struggling to get a fair slice.

The Ping G425 drivers are a great option for upgrading your computer.

Is The Ping G425 A Good Driver?

G425MAX is the perfect driver for anyone looking to be user-friendly. This driver’s CG is so deep that it can be almost impossible to believe. This is without doubt the friendliest driver that I have tested. January 11, 2021

Are The Ping G425 Drivers Forgiving?

Verdict. G425Max is very forgiving. Personally, I would prefer to use the G410 in the traditional silver-black colour scheme. LST will fit players without the need for big hitting, so be sure to try both. February 18, 2021

What Are The Different Drivers For The Ping G425 Ping?

It is slightly smaller and more compact than the G425 MAX, but it has the same power. The numbers show that it is slightly more aerodynamic. But, swing speed gains are offset by the shorter build lengths. It spins at the lowest speed of any PING G425 drivers. Jan 11, 2020
