You Must Never Forget To Call In

Adjustable hosels for fairway woods and hybrids have come and gone for some brands but Ping believe adjustability, not just for loft but lie angle too, is a very important part of fitting golfers correctly.

It means the G425 fairways come with hosels that can be adjusted by up to +/- 1.5deg for loft and up to 3deg in lie angle.

Ping G425 Max Fairway Wood Review

Ping fairway woods are growing in popularity – and for good reason! They are simply great clubs with a great combination of distance, forgiveness, and feel.

They have 3 fairway-woods models in their latest G425 release. There are three fairway wood models: the Max, the LST and the SFT. SFT and Max both appeal to the majority of players who are looking for more forgiveness on fairway shots. The Max fairway is a great option if your preference is not to have draw bias.

Here’s my honest opinion about the Ping G425Max fairway woods. Ping has dropped the “ribbed pattern” of its previous G series woods. In truth, I am kinda happy. I enjoy the G425’s smoother appearance. Ping has removed the ribbed pattern and added three small alignment dots so you can make sure that the ball is squared at address.

Looking at the bottom of the clubhead, you’ll see the weight placement – low and back. This tells you that this is a lightweight, high-launching design. Overall, I’m a big fan of the black/grey color scheme.

Take a final look at what the sole looks like. Ping now uses a flat sole and fairway woods that are more forgiving when mishitting shots. If you miss the center of the club face with a more rounded sole, you’ll be punished badly. However, mishits shots fly fairly well with a flatter sole.

Let’s make something clear. Anecdotal experiences with the Ping G425 Max fairway woodens are not of much benefit to you. If you are able, try the club out at your nearest range, or on a future demo day. While you may think that the Max is the one for you, you may find that you like the LST or SFT far better for a wide variety of reasons.

Ping G425 Max has a fantastic all-around performance. My current player (5+ years old Callaway) was only 10 yards slower than the Ping G425Max. I honestly think that if the Ping G425Max was in my bag, I’d choose the 4 Wood to have more consistent distance gaps.
