Dyson V15 Detect
Dyson’s new and best stick vacuum, the $700 DysonV15, is our top pick. The V15 is the flagship cordless vacuum of Dyson. It comes with a hefty price tag. The V15 is our highest-priced machine. Like its predecessor the V11, the V15 ripped through our suite of vacuum tests with ruthless competence.
The cordless stick vacuum outperformed other brands. V15 vacuum had greater suction power that Dyson V11 the prior champion cordless vacuum. These cleaning results were also obtained by the V15 on the most challenging test, which was sand.
The machine was able remove 88.4% tester sand, which we put on to the carpet. On the same test, the V11 was able to remove 71.6%. The V15 pulled in 95.3% more sand particles than the V11 when we placed them on low-pile carpeting. This is much higher than the V11’s mere 78.4 per cent. The V15 wasn’t phased by pet hair either. The V15 did not leave any pet hair behind when vacuuming on hardwood, low-pile, and midpile carpeting.
The V15 Detect is distinguished by a few additional features. One is the vacuum’s “Laser Slim Fluffy” cleaner head. It was specifically made to clean hard flooring. The green laser shines out on the floor and illuminates it. Its purpose is to highlight dust and other small bits of debris otherwise hard to spot with the naked eye. This system works and it revealed dirt we might not have noticed otherwise. One drawback though is that the laser isn’t visible under strong indoor lighting or sunlight.
Another interesting feature is the readout located on the vacuum’s back. The vacuum’s dirt collection by size is listed in this report. The D15’s bagless vacuum design has remained the same, except for the fact that it’s much easier to clean. This is good news, as both models were very easy to empty.

Tineco A11 Hero
Tineco A11 Hero: The best midrange cordless vacuum. This is an amazing deal. It has officially displaced the Shark Rocket Pet Pro Cordless as our best-selling midrange vacuum. The Hero is a better choice with an average 72% sand pickup from mid-pile carpeting and an average 82.5% sand remove from low-pile flooring. A cordless stick vac costs significantly less than that of the Shark.
The A11 Hero tackled pet hair without too much trouble as well. The machine removed all traces of hair from hardwood floors and mid-pile carpeting. While the Hero was moving across the low-pile test carpet, there were some visible strands. Midpile carpeting is more problematic for vacuums.
The Hero’s design doesn’t look too bad. Its dustbin is almost as easy to empty as the Rocket Pet Pro. Comparable to Shark’s, the bin’s release mechanism is more difficult to use. It is however removable. To keep your vacuum working without having to apply constant pressure, there’s a trigger lock lever.
Moosoo M X6
Moosoo cordless vacuum is not a household brand. Despite being a low-cost model, the Moosoo M X6 vacuum cleaner packs a serious punch. The M X6 was our fourth-best performing cordless vacuum in our eight model test.
Our hardwood test sand was picked up by the stick vac at 99%. That figure fell to 41.3% for low-pile carpet. The M X6 fared better across thicker midpile carpet though, earning a higher sand pickup average of 52.2%.
The Moosoo vacuum did well with black rice, the large particle test soil. It managed pickup averages above 90% on hardwood, low-pile and midpile carpet (95.4, 96.8 and 94%, respectively).
If your pet is a pet owner, you shouldn’t get the Moosoo M X6. The cons are that there was at least some visible hair after vacuuming. It is common for the brush roll to wrap hair around itself.
The Moosoo M X6 cordless vacuum cleaner is a good option if budget constraints are a concern. It’s possible to get a cordless stick vacuum cleaner for a lot less money.
Cordless Vacuums: What we do to test them
Putting cordless vacuums through their paces isn’t as complicated as testing a robot vacuum cleaner, but it still takes lots of time and careful effort to find the best cordless vacuum. We run each vacuum in a straight line across three different surfaces (hardwood, low-pile carpet, midpile carpet). Each test bed has a test area measuring 30.25 inches.
The width of the test bed is proportional to the vacuum’s nozzle width. We measure this width ourselves. The International Electrotechnical Commission’s guidelines also state that we use the width of the nozzle and flooring types to determine the soil density. IEC manages the vacuum testing processes for vacuum manufacturers.
Three types of floors are tested by our vacuum testers.
There are three kinds of soil. We use both landscaping sand as well as play sand to simulate tiny particles. To emulate larger dirt particles, we use uncooked black rice. We use our mix of pet hair clippings, which we received from our local groomer to see the effects vacuums have on pet hair.
Tests are conducted in straight lines across each of the three floors types.
For each floor, we do three runs at a minimum. Additionally, we test the suction with rice and sand separately. There are at least 18 such tests. The vacuum’s dust container is weighed before and after each run.
Our Choice

Tineco Pure One S11 is our top pick because it’s pretty good (not great) at the important stuff, and it doesn’t have any major flaws. This cordless stick vacuum is a winner by default. Every other model with the same battery life or cleaning abilities has some serious drawback. Its greatest asset is its ease of use, even when cleaning for long periods. With a full-charged battery pack you can expect to get around 30 minutes.
In our tests, the S11 did a better job than average cleaning carpets and floors. While it won’t pull as much dust or hair out of rugs as some other models near this price (including the Dyson V8 Animal, one of our runner-up picks), the S11 is strong enough that we’re comfortable recommending it considering its other advantages over its competitors. An AI-assisted analysis based on customer reviews has shown that S11 owners are very satisfied with its power. The S11 also has a built-in dust sensor, which we found to be surprisingly helpful: Whenever you roll over debris, an LED ring changes colors to give you a visual cue that you’re actually vacuuming something. If there’s a large mess, the S11 automatically increases the suction. The S11 can be used as a cordless vacuum. It can also use extra batteries to increase the vacuum’s run-time (though these are $90 per piece).
Buying Options
Best Buy, $699 Lowe’s Dyson Dyson’s most expensive models (including V15 and V11 Animal) are cleaner than any cordless vacuums tested. These vacuums actually perform better than many of the plug-in ones we have tested.
If you are able to find V15 Detect, it is an excellent product. A representative from Dyson informed us that stock status for V15-Detect would not be consistent through the remainder of 2018. Apart from its outstanding cleaning performance, the Vacuum Detect is packed full of great features. One representative told us that Dyson’s stock status was not consistent for the rest of 2021. The vacuum also has a dust-particle count, which is both a marvel of engineering and a bit of a joke. V15 prices are outrageous. Long session sessions may be uncomfortable due to the pressure switch that is trigger-style. The V15’s reliability can also not compare with sticks by Dyson and other manufacturers.
You could opt for a slightly more affordable V11 model. V11 Animal models should remain in stock for the remainder of 2021. While it may not have as many features as V15’s, the V11 Animal is still a great rug-handler. V11 Torque Drive may also be offered by some retailers. It’s similar to V11 Animal with real-time countdown for battery life. There are also Dyson Outsize models that can be purchased at a higher price, with larger brushes and better bins than those of the V11/V15. These Outsize models have a bigger battery and extra charge, but they still work the same.

Stick Vacuum Testing
Stick vacuums aren’t as effective at deep-cleaning carpets than full-sized vacuums. CR performs a carpet surface testing test to determine how the vacuums pick up sand and rice in a given time.
Fully-sized vacuums must pass an embedded-dirt testing, where our engineers attempt to remove any sand particles that have been turned into pile carpet.
We scatter the litter onto a tiled flooring with grout grooves in our bare floor cleaning test for cordless sticks vacuums. Also, we conduct an animal-hair removal test for medium-pile carpet and a clean emission test to check if vacuums are releasing any of the dirt that has been sucked up.

This vacuum was able to pick up any flour, cat litter, ground coffee and dog hair. Also, it picked up entire Cheerios with minimal effort on tiles and hardwood. Most other vacuums only pushed the large pieces around. On a high-pile rug, it had a little difficulty moving back and forth smoothly, so you should only get this vacuum if you have low-pile rugs and carpeting or if you’re okay with buying a second vacuum for your carpet.
It has a thick grip and a somewhat heavy dust bin, making it a bit uncomfortable to use for extended cleaning sessions. The slight discomfort is offset by several features. The grip has separate settings for carpet and hardwood, which are easy to switch between. If you require extra suction power, you will find a power booster trigger you can press down.
Rolling the cleaning head around hardwood and tile feels very smooth and soft instead of clunky and abrasive. The cleaning head also comes with two important features. It has two useful features. First, it shows exactly what you’re doing and highlights tiny particles that you might not have noticed otherwise. A second alert light turns green when there is a blockage so you can immediately address it.
What I like most about vacuuming is how small and flat the can be. Other cordless vacuums can’t move or rearrange the stick, so you must bend to reach beneath furniture. The Shark has a great design where you click a button in the middle of the stick, and it bends into a flexible hose “elbow,” allowing the entire bottom half of the shaft to lay flat and get under beds, couches, chairs, and other tricky spots. Instead of benting my waist or knees, I could just drop my arm so that I could continue cleaning.

There are many pros to this vacuum: It is lightweight and adjustable, has a mop function, and comes with an extra battery. The vacuum comes with tons of additional accessories such as a wall mount and an additional battery.
Our flour testing revealed that the Cordzero performed well and picked up all the flour from tile and hardwood, including cracks. It was very good on high-pile carpets. The cordzero got flour right out of the loose, tall loops. It might have trouble with Cheerios-sized particles; a manual sweep will be more effective.
You can use the mopnozzle to clean your hardwood floors. The process involves wetting and attaching the soft mop pads (the pack comes with four total), filling the water tank in the nozzle, and choosing the setting for more or less water.
The vacuum will then spin the moppads instead of activating suction. These mop pads are gentle on your floors and will not cause damage. You can also see the attachment’s contents with a built in light.
The vacuum is on the lighter side of all those we tested, and it has a comfortable grip. The vacuum has a single power button and no trigger. The stick and cleaning head pivot smoothly, and you can extend or shorten the stick depending on your height and how far you need to reach the vacuum.
The vacuum is very effective in cleaning, but the way it disposes of dust could be better. Once you have opened the bin’s bottom, a lever will allow you to pull the container’s contents out.
Some times the contents are slow to release, so you need to shake the container or open the lid. Other times, they spill out immediately. The experience can be unpleasant, so we suggest wearing gloves after cleaning.
