People love polar bears. While the magnificent mammals will amaze you, the dome's view of them swimming and diving above you is breathtaking. You will also find over 200 rare species in the zoo, including red pandas as well as snow leopards.

These animals can be found in the north of the province, along the Hudson Bay. A glass viewing platform was added to the pool, making it a great spot for taking polar bear photos and watching the curious bears play.

 

Located smack-dab inside Winnipeg's most beautiful park, the Assiniboine Park Zoo provides visitors with the opportunity to interact with animals from all over the globe. The Zoo is open all year and offers visitors the opportunity to visit over 80 acres of park-like areas. One of Winnipeg's most beloved tourist attractions actually hails from this province. Journey to Churchill, the award-winning exhibit, is home to the polar bears as well muskoxen and Arctic foxes of Northern Manitoba. Winnipeg Zoo's most iconic icon is seeing a polar Bear swim by while you view through the glass. This is also one of the best Winnipeg attractions for families.Fun Fact: The polar bear that is housed at the zoo actually came from Churchill after its mother was euthanized for attacking a person. In summer it is easy to waste an entire day at Assiniboine Park. You can ride bikes, rent them, stroll through the park, take photos at the Leo Mol sculpture gardens, or hop on the miniature steam train. There is something for everyone in this sprawling park. There are many things you can do in Winnipeg, and not just during the summer. The Assiniboine Zoo has activities all year. In the West end Of Assiniboine Park was the first Assiniboine Park zoo. It has grown into an entertainment, zoo, and park covering 400 acres. Starting with just 116 animals from 19 species, the zoo has acquired some 1193 animals across 271 different species. This zoo has the usual lions tigers and bears. It also features a variety of endangered and special species including red pandas, lemurs and polar bears.
