Ping G 10 Driver Review

Here’s a quick look

Ping G10 Driver’s story is not about revolution but evolution. Technicians have spent hours studying the effectiveness of MOI-designs. The results of their research support the idea that higher moi clubs do not necessarily result in straighter drives. You won’t see any improvement in side spin if you hit shots with either an open or close club face, regardless of the moi. Moi says that the company was a factor in designing the driver. However, they didn’t neglect other important elements of our driver. So, by paying attention to what matters to golfers, the company believes that the driver is great to listen to and looks good. It also delivers the maximum amount of distance with a lot of forgiveness. The Ping G5 driver’s face and body are slightly different. Because the centre of gravity for the clubs is located lower than it is on the G5, the Ping G5 driver is deeper. And by increasing moi over the G5 driver you’ll also find drives hit off centre won’t lose as much ball speed meaning even miss hits go further.

Ping players on tour have found that the Ping G10 averages five yards less than their current driver. Comparing the G10 with Ping G5 results in a four yard improvement in drive distance and an increase of 2 mph in ball speed. Ping Man (or robotic golfer) gained five yards more with significantly higher spin rates and a better launch angle. We agree that the G10 is a worthy addition.

The Old vs. the New Driver: Review of G400 MAX vs. G30 vs. G20 vs. G10 2009 Updated Model – A solid, forgiving driver at a fair price. Answer: Because it’s top, top end. It’s the best quality.

Although the G10 is not as fun and flashy as the other tests, it may be more entertaining. You can’t change anything, for one. But actually, if you went and got yourself fitted for one of these you might not need to tinker with your driver for some time.

Review: Ping’S Drivers of the G400 and G400

I still remember the first time I hit Ping’s G30 driver. It was July 2014 when I visited Ping’s headquarters. These super low-spin players were the new rage. With their forward center of gravity, they were helping golfers optimize their launch conditions beyond their wildest dreams: crazy high launch, ridiculously low spin. I was one of them, as well as many others in my business. We spent lots of launch monitor sessions trying out different ways to increase distance with these heavy knuckles. Unfortunately, forward-CG drivers were by their nature very unforgiving. Poor shots could be very short and awkward.

Marty Jertson, Ping’s Director for Product Development explained his vision of the ideal driver to me in a conference room located at Ping Headquarters. His vision of the perfect driver was not based on the high, forward center gravity (CG) being talked about at that time. Its CG was placed as low as possible in the driver’s head. He stated that it would provide the best of both: optimal launch conditions for good shots and the greatest forgiveness possible on poor shots.

Building the perfect driver was a long way off (and still is), but Jertson was excited where Ping had landed with the G30. It was an impressive testament to Jertson’s vision. A rear-CG design made it very easy to drive on bad and good shots. The G30 sold incredibly well and, as a result, the industry mostly shifted away from forward-CG drivers.

It’s been nearly three years since the release of the G30, and Ping has just made another counterintuitive driver release. The company shrunk the size of its new G400 drivers in a climate where full-size drivers have become the norm. Granted, it’s only 15 cubic centimeters smaller, but it’s noticeable at address. The G400 looks like the G30’s replacement Ping G drivers.

The G400 drivers, despite their smaller frames, are more patient than the G30 drivers. That’s why Ping representatives say smaller is actually better in the G400’s case. Ping’s drivers are the most forward-facing Ping drivers, with a lower CG than any other. Their smaller sizes also improve aerodynamics, allowing golfers to swing their clubs fractionally quicker. A new face material, made from T9S+ Titanium, is another big improvement. It is lighter and flexible and helps golfers produce more ball speed.

For this review, I wanted to put the G400 and G400 LST to the test against the G and the G LST drivers that they replace, so I took them to the Launch Pad Carl’s Golfland in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Trackman IV was used to test each driver’s head. I took five shots and compared them with Trackman IV. All driver heads were adjusted to the identical loft.

Notice: G LST, G400, and G LST drivers were all 10.5 degree heads, which I adjusted to 9.0 degrees. The G400 LST had a loft of 10 degrees, and it was adjusted to 9.4 degrees.

After six years of playing the same driver, it was finally time for me to change clubs. The local pro provided me with the Vector Pro Launch System, which was a highly-tech fit system.

He wanted me to have six shots with him, the driver who was a Taylor. Made Firesole, which had a 10deg loft with a regular graphite shaft. From this I had an average yardage, club head speed, ball speed, a graph with the trajectory of each shot and information about how much spin was being generated as well as my launch angle on impact.

It is a great distance but I would be able to hit it farther with a modern driver. Also, I was told to consider a stiff shaft as a counter to my spin.

Before finally getting my Ping G10 in my hands, I tried many different drivers. A pro advised me to generate a higher launch angle. He gave me the 12-deg driver. It was immediate.

The club’s titanium head is 460cc. A new thin crown design provides discretionary mass which is placed inside the head for higher launch. You are so kind to the club. It seems to be hitting 20 meters further. But, most importantly, it is running straight down its middle. The improvement has been amazing and I have noticed that I am less nervous when I’m in front of a crowd.

Ping G 10 Driver Review

Straightest Ping Driver Ever

I had been gaming the G30 for the last several years with GREAT success. I wanted to upgrade, but the G400 was not as good. Tried the G410 with the Tensi Orange shaft and let me tell you! WOW!

Love the feel, sound and forgiveness this driver has packed into it!

G410 is the best upgrade option if you are looking for something new. The longest, straightest and forgiving driver that I’ve ever experienced!

Bravo!
