It turned out that practice tests do not always have the same quality. Although ACT, Inc. is yet to announce any major changes, experts believe that the ACT has changed over time. They agree, in particular that the Science section is more difficult and Reading has become faster-paced. These changes are not always reflected in the questions and practice tests included in this book. Although many questions are more straightforward than you’ll see on test date, there is no doubt that some of them will be simpler in this book. You may find yourself scoring higher on these practice tests than on the real ACT.

The introduction and study plan are followed by a “dress rehearsal” or diagnostic test for your initial level. Then it discusses each test section in depth, with test-taking tactics, skills and concepts, question types, and practice questions. Barron’s ACT Premium Guide can be used as a general guide, while Barron’s 36 is for those who have a goal to pass the exam. You might’ve seen the Official ACT Prep Guide book being recommended many times in the previous years. Nevertheless, this is one of the best ACT preparation. Kaplan’s practice tests and Princeton Review are great resources, but they don’t prepare you well for the real thing.
We think this book works well as a test guide, but not as an exhaustive study resource. This book doesn’t include topics like math and the mechanics, usage and grammar of the ACT English parts.
